Economics Multilingual Glossary

The Multilingual Economics Glossary of the Multilingualism Education Project (MEP) is based on the MEP Economics Corpus for its terms and definitions. The Economics Corpus consists of chapters from Economics textbooks which were recommended by Economics lecturers at UCT. MEP staff worked in liaison with Economics lecturers and tutor in establishing the wordlist and defining the selected terms. The glossary has been translated from English into Afrikaans, isiXhosa, isiZulu, isiNdebele, siSwati, Setswana, Sepedi, Sesotho, Tshivenda and Xitsonga. The glossary can be accessed on Vula in the following site. If you are not a UCT registered student or staff member, you will have to register first by submitting your email address.

Statistics Multilingual Glossary

The terms in the Multilingual Statistics Glossary were extracted from a Statistics Corpus using term extraction tools and the wordlist was verified and supplemented by a Statistics lecturer. The Statistics lecturer provided also the definitions and these were further elaborated through concordances extracted from the corpus. The glossary has been translated from English into Afrikaans, isiXhosa, isiZulu, isiNdebele, siSwati, Setswana, Sepedi, Sesotho, Tshivenda and Xitsonga.
